UNDERARM LIGHTENING TREATMENT PLAN

WHAT IS DARK UNDERARMS

Like other parts of the body, the skin of the underarms can darken or become discoloured. Underarm skin that’s darker than the rest of the skin can keep some people from dressing in sleeveless shirts, wearing bathing suits in public, or participating in sports.

Dark underarms are often a symptom of acanthosis nigricans. This skin disorder typically occurs in people who have an underlying medical condition, such as diabetes or PCOS. Acanthosis nigricans (AN) may also cause thickening of the skin or darkening in other areas of the body, such as the neck and groin. AN can be a result of age, race, and body weight, it can also occur as a result of everyday activities like walking, exercise, sex, etc. Also, rubbing the area too much can lead to darkening.

CAUSES OF DARK UNDERARMS

There are many reasons why your underarms may darken, including:
● Chemical irritants in deodorants and antiperspirants.
● Irritation and abrasion caused by shaving.
● The accumulation of dead skin cells due to infrequent exfoliation.
● Friction caused by tight clothes.
● Hyperpigmentation, such as an increase in melanin.
● Smoking. Acanthosis nigricans, a skin pigmentation disorder that’s associated with diabetes, obesity, and abnormal hormone levels.
● Other skin disorders that can cause darkening, like Fox-Fordyce disease .
● A bacterial skin infection called Erythrasma .
● Addison’s disease, which can occur when you have a damaged adrenal gland.
