About TCA Cross

TCA CROSS is the Chemical Reconstruction of Skin Scars (CROSS), using Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA). It is used to elevate atrophic or depressed scars and is usually used together with other scar treatments, skin resurfacing lasers, IPL. It involves applying a small amount of solution usually with a toothpick to a specific area (atrophic scar) to help just that area of concern. The main difference between TCA Cross and a TCA chemical peel is that TCA Cross treats individual acne scars with a very high concentration of trichloroacetic acid. A TCA chemical peel is generally at much lower concentrations and treats the entire face, chest, back, arms, or buttocks.

How does TCA Cross work?

TCA CROSS (stands for Trichloroacetic acid chemical reconstruction of skin scars. This procedure uses high-strength acid applied to the scar & not the surrounding skin. This prevents damage to the normal surrounding skin, resulting in much faster recovery & less side effects.
TCA cross works by creating a chemical reaction that leads to the formation of new collagen fibres that increase the height of the treated scars/pores. Each TCA procedure can increase the height of a deep scar or open pore by 20-40 percent each treatment. This process is continued until we have an even level in the skin. TCA Cross works on the scar by helping to denature the collagen within the scar tissue and stimulate new collagen production resulting in the scar being “lifted up”. New collagen production begins as early as 4 weeks after the procedure and continues to form up to 4 months after each TCA Cross treatment.

Benefits

  • Boxcar acne scars (narrow)

  • Large deep isolated pores including Dilated Pore of Winer
  • Undifferentiated acne scars

Is this peel safe for my skin type?

We consider the TCA cross is safe for all skins who suffer from scarring, however we will assess your skin to see if it’s the best treatment for your skin. This treatment does require a 2-4 week prep to ensure your skin is able to tolerate the peel.

How many treatments will I need?

This will depend on your main concern and condition of your skin. Between 3-6 regular treatments to treat most skin concerns. We would also create you a maintenance plan and home care routine to ensure your results are long lasting and maintained.
